    Langkawi!!! - Day 1

The trip did not start out too well. I remember my phone ringing; it was Kok Meng trying to wake me from my "way too much hardcoreness" last night. I knew I was late. I answered, the conversation was brief. Basically I agreed to everything he said particularly the part when he told me to wake up. I jumped out of bed and headed straight for the shower. Got ready then proceeded to the street to wait for Kok Meng. When he arrived in his sturdy red kancil, Sina was already inside so I jumped into the back and off we went to the jetty.

We were super late arriving at the jetty. Our ferry was to depart at 8:45 am, we got there at 8:44 am. As we were unloading the car Kok Meng's father was lecturing him about punctuality all the way as we sped walked into jetty. We met Elaine who already arrived earlier and was waiting for us. We barely got on and I think were the last to board. The ferry ride was fun, especially when we were on the roof. Elaine almost puke her guts out from sitting inside a confined space. Actually there were lots of people puking...

We finally arrived after making a brief stop at Pulau Payar. Vig was just there a couple of weeks before. We rented a car and started exploring Langkawi. We didn't have much problems looking for our hotel(Sunset Beach Resort) except for this part where we thought a restaurant was our hotel(it had the same logo!??!?). Kok Meng and Elaine checked in but we made a mistake while carrying in our luggages. We didn't do it discreetly enough that we were question about how many was satying in that room. Only two were allowed. So we were left with a dillema, whether or not to get another room or keep sneaking in. We decided to get another since the first one was free. We got a nice cosy room a few doors down the beach which was called Tanjung Malim Resorts.

We then proceeded to get alcohol but first... Lunch!! We found this cosy restaurant by the beach that serves Italian food. Sweet!! Nothing like pizza and beer to start off the trip with. Except they don't serve beer. Sina said it was something to do with not serving beer before 3 pm. Well pizza and juice will do fine. After a satisfying but quite expensive lunch we headed off for the alcohol. We got our alcohol and essentials at Teoh Seng Huat, the biggest mall in Langkawi which was quite small.

As we got back to the room, Kok Meng and I started chilling the beers with ice. We realized we ran out of ice and had to get more. Sina stayed back to chill at the beach. The rest of us went for ice. Upon our return, Sina was nowhere to be seen. We actually got a bit worried, Sina is a big boy but sometimes he can be a kid. I was wondering if he had drown. Nonetheless that didn't stop us from chilling out in this hut just outside our room. Sipping on our newly aquired Heineken; which was damn cheap!

A man approached us while we were chilling at the hut. I think he works there or something like that. Anyway we talked about Langkawi then Elaine asked him, "Where got good seafood ah?". He then introduced us to this place called Wonderland. It was in Kuah Town, near the jetty where we arrived, which was quite a drive. We already did that twice. Once heading to our hotel and the second was to go get alcohol but we decided to drive down anyway for the sake of cheap seafood.

Sina finally came back and we all decided to go dip in the sea. Elaine with her new bathing suit that she just got while we searched for ice. That was fun, getting blown away by the big waves, well bigger than anything in Penang. We called it getting "wiped out" because at the exact moment the waves push you away it also pulls you back in... hence getting "wiped out"!!! Anyway we got out and started taking showers. That in itself was quite a hassle because the shampoo was in the other room and Elaine was a chick... haha you get where I'm coming from.

It was around 9 pm and we were all ready and hungry for dinner. The guy that talked to us told us not to go for dinner so early because there would be many people and we would get our food late. So we decided to have some Jack's that we got earlier. That didn't last long as we all decided to hop into the car and head to Wonderland because we were all hungry. We had a little trouble finding the place but finally found it. It was closed so we decided to eat at the restaurant next to it. Couldn't remember what it was called but we ate to our hearts content. Can't believe I forgot my camera at that time.

We got back to the hotel and started drinking up. At first we were playing our usual drinking games until Elaine the master of drinking games thought us how to play Wheel of Fortune. Well that basically fucked us over. It's a complicated game but whenever you want to get someone drunk, this is the game to play. Sina went down first, mainly because everybody made him drink, then Elaine. They wanted to crash so Kok Meng and I decided to take the party back to the Tanjung Malim Resort. We carried the PS2 along with more beers over the beach to the other room. Much to our dismay the TV in that room had no AV input thus not being able to play the PS2. We were however able to charge the iPod Shuffles on the USB port the PS2 had. After another Heineken by the beach we headed back to the room to crash. A hectic but fun first day at Langkawi. Good start...

    I Quit

On the drive back from college i ran out of cigarettes. I thought to myself, "Hey I can live without it man. It's bad for my health anyway."
So I was prepared to quit, all the way on the drive home I had imagine myself being a non smoker and all my friends would be of high praises. I could see it, in the future they would be talking about how i use to be a chimney and be of full admiration of my strong will to quit those lousy death sticks.
It would be a step to healthier living. I could see myself quiting then start to exercise on a more regular basis. I would be a health freak! YEAH! I was excited, that was motivation enough. "I can totally do it," I thought to myself again, "No sweat!"

So I got home. Now to distract myself from thinking about smoking. I'll just play some games. That would keep my mind off the cigarettes. Good plan. Started busting out some Need For Speed Underground 2 action. It was working, I was concentrating on winning races instead of you know what. I won the race on the first try. Hmmmm this calls for a celebration smoke... NO!! Keep it together Ian. Race again. Okay, the game doesn't seem to be distracting me anymore. I need that victory smoke. I always have a victory smoke. Come on man, hold it together! NO! Dammit! Should have bought smokes on my way home. DAMN!

I ended up digging the ash tray for stubbed cigarettes with little left tobacco to smoke. Later that day I stopped at 7-11 to get a pack of smokes..... I'll quit in a few years time.
