While buying Char Kuey Teow
While buying Char Kuey Teow at the coffee shop near my house, I overheard two old chinese uncle talking in hokkien about the English Premier League.
(Translating it to English)
Uncle no.1: West Ham how this season?
Uncle no.2: West Ham surely go down one lah. They can not tahan one.
After talking about West Ham for a couple of minutes they started talking about something else.
Uncle no.1: Karlton also can not lah next season.
Uncle no.2: But I thought Karlton ok mah last season. Surely can tahan.
After a few moments of contemplating i realized they mis-pronounced Charlton (pronounced CHARL-TON) not Karlton. Funny listening to old uncles pronouncing English teams.
